I think it got stuck in cold. It has been quite a few years, I just recall ever since then I follow the listing at the bottom of my fun mugs if they say to hand wash only.

It basically ruins the color changing function. I don't know the specific reasoning or cause, I just know it won't "work" anymore.

Friendly reminder: these types of mugs are hand wash only. Do not put it in the dishwasher like I once did.
