24.11.2025 01:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0On May 11, 1950, while working on the Rawlins National Bank in Wyoming, a construction crew unearthed a whiskey barrel that contained a human skeleton with its skull cap sawed off & an odd pair of shoes. Dr. Lillian Heath, now in her 80s, was asked if she knew anything about it...π§΅

Sharing this never-aired 2005 IFC Cult Movies pilot from the night we first met at Midnight Mass, twenty years ago. I miss her. (Please excuse my hair & makeup!) youtu.be/ofmRAmkOZVU

23.11.2025 18:43 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Hell yea it is. One of my favorite drive-in experiences was listening to punk music in a dusty lot on a perfectly hot day and seeing this on 35mm.
Just a perfect vibe.
Easily one of the most quotable films ever and that line is right at the top! π

Everything about this is GOLD, from the set-up, to the direction, to the energy that you can feel resonate from the celluloid, to Elisha Cook Jr.'s expression which is frankly, unsettling.

And it's exciting to see another Lizabeth Scott film get the treatment it deserves!
Poster for A Colt is My Passport (1967)
This looks cool as FUCK
The photography and blocking is IT
Every 30 seconds I lose my mind at the framing in this film
21. Favorite Film Noir Made Outside the USA
There may not be a better bridge between Western Film Noir and Japanese Cinema than Takashi Nomura's stunner A Colt is My Passport from 1967, which dissects the genre while ushering in the yakuza era.

20. Favorite Gambling Scene in a Film Noir
How about a whole-ass movie where Barbara Stanwyck gets her rocks off by gambling, which also makes for an excellent Double Feature with Valerie Bertinelli's The Seduction of Gina from 1984

Anyway, The Ice Tower is out today in UK cinemas (hopefully soon in Ireland) and if you haven't seen it you really need to, it's an astonishing, hypnotically beautiful fairytale that demands to be watched in a real cinema.
