I was going to post about this earlier — in the 1950s, “integration” was the same scapegoat for *everything* that DEI has become today. The same scapegoating was deployed even earlier for abolition, and then later for multiculturalism. Different codewords, same racism.

This particular root is reconstructible at least to Georgian-Zan *ğu(d)-, as it is found in Megrelian and Laz:

Another site showed me this from 4 years ago, a most memorable (and for me impactful) day at the University of California. I later gave away the K, but I like the picture, showing me and the elided K overshadowed by a very much non-elided H (for Hearst).

There’s a lot going on, but this is not only very petty, it’s also extremely racist. The indigenous people of Alaska wanted to have Denali recognized by its real name. And a Day One priority for this administration is to make sure they know they’re not considered stakeholders, rather subjects.

Tetracerus quadricornis, the four horned antelope, also called the chausingha, has four names, all of which mean "four-horns" on a different language.
All four of those names are built from words that trace back to the Proto-Indo-European words for "four" and "horn".
