Every other month, volunteers around the city collect green bags that they've distributed in their neighborhoods. Bags filled with shelf stable foods by their neighbors. All the bags get brought to about a dozen local pantries, including St. John’s Food Share! Thank you @portlandfoodproject !

Just 2% of surplus food ends up getting donated. We need to be doing a better job as a country of making sure the high quality foods that would otherwise go to waste is redirected towards community. We should not have anyone struggling to feed their families with this much food out there.

Biochar could be a viable climate solution, study finds Farmers scorch weeds, husks and other biomass to create biochar, then tuck it into the soil to boost crop yields and lock that carbon out of the atmosphere.
