09.03.2026 18:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0No. There are eight propellers on these drones. The majority of consumer/semi professional video drones have four.
07.03.2026 17:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Although at pains to reassure people that the skies are open to all drone users, these guys do not have to apply for permission to fly in advance (form uf101) like the rest of us do since they swooped in town. #cork #skypizzapie

07.03.2026 15:01 β π 6 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Myself and Chris Martin aka @looselenscap on Instagram followed this otter from the South Channel all the way around to the North Channel this Saturday afternoon. It was catching fish as it moved along, oblivious to the beeping cars on the quays. #cork

03.03.2026 20:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If there wasn't a housing crisis we'd be bulldozing them for more roads.
02.03.2026 16:09 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's always heartening to see them in these otherwise barren places.

26.02.2026 10:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In Blackpool we have car parks and roads draining surface water directly into the river. We now have a β¬20M+ flood scheme in the works. In Carrigaline we have a FF councillor suggesting that we turn green (water absorbent) spaces in car (non-permeable) spaces. #cork www.echolive.ie/corknews/ari...

24.02.2026 13:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What about the surface water runoff? No doubt theyβll be screaming about flooding later.
23.02.2026 19:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I cannot see how there would be a conflict with operators at 30m and below apart from the moment of delivery which I believe takes place at around 14m. The current proposal feels like complete overkill.

The new "geozone" is an arbitrary imposition on commercial and community activities, with disproportionate negative impacts.
As a regulator, the IAA needs to sit back and consider if this would even withstand a court challenge. π§΅
Great to hear Minister Kevin 'Boxer' Moran talk about working with nature during a DΓ‘il Γireann debate on flooding in response to a number of TD's blaming pearl mussels etc - Thursday, 19 Feb 2026. Perhaps there is a change in the air. #cork

This way credit can be taken for delivering housing and later for the inevitable flood scheme that follows.
21.02.2026 12:17 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Chonky Cork City otter. This picture was taken in the South Channel of the Lee in 2021. This fine fella is still around the city but has lost two canine teeth which helps to identify him. #cork

Thanks to Steven Fox and the Cork Independent for reporting the downing of drone use in the city.
From today, open category (i.e. arrive and fly) operations will be banned in a part of the city β commercial, amateur and community uses β to facilitate food delivery by drone.
Are we going to have to wait three months to discover what 'the workaround' is? Any plan that involves having to give notice in advance and waiting for permission is not going to be satisfactory.
19.02.2026 14:26 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0βIn Co Cavan, flood risk advice was rejected in relation to sites in Cavan town and Belturbet and Cork City councillors acted similarly in relation to a site at Ballyvolane.β Story from 2023. Still relevent all the same. #cork www.independent.ie/irish-news/c...
18.02.2026 22:25 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Search and rescue. Engineering surveys etc. If you are referring to nefarious drone use - itβs unlikely that regulation is going to make the slightest difference to that going on. Itβs only going to impact those of us who follows the rules.
