I've also shamelessly stolen / been inspired by @joshstrifehayes.bsky.social and his fantastic "Worst MMO ever" and "Was it good?" Series' when writing the intro section! The man writes a good hook, but hopefully I've made it enough of my own to stand by itself, or at least be favourable compared!

And that's before I actually take the time to film and edit it!!

Storms! If I get this out before Comic Con next week I'll be incredibly surprised!

But I've really enjoyed the process of it so far. That said, ive put an awful lot of time into it, so it remains to be seen if this type of video is one that I could consistently produce!

I've probably put 12 hours of work into reading and taking notes, and prepping and running a game so far!

Been working all day on writing a script for a video reviewing the #cosmererpg by @brotherwisegames.bsky.social.

Its currently at about 10 thousand words, and ive not even finished it yet! This is going to be a chunky video.

I've also not even made one like this before, no idea how it'll perform!

It's small enough to feel like you can get involved in a good amount of it's events depending on your interests, but big enough that you don't feel overwhelmed trying to fit everything in, or to be intimidated by larger crowds.

10/10!

All in all, a great weekend, that's gotten better every year! Can't wait for next time!

Had a great time running the Cosmere RPG by @brotherwisegames.bsky.social es.bsky.social (full review to follow, keep an eye out on the Hearthfire YT Channel for that) as well as a level 11 D&D oneshot, that saw 3 level 11 players take on a tarrasque, and nearly kill it!

Gutted that the guys from the Emerald collective didn't get to run their Whose NPC is it anyway event due to tech issues on the hotels side, but thoroughly enjoyed the @dopesanddragons.bsky.social Not Jeapordy panel, as well as Steve Bennets Bingo on Friday night!

Speaking of inappropriate things for children . . .

We did the most chaotic live show of our lives, that definitely earned it's 18+ rating! Can't wait to see the recording of it, and I hope to never cross those lines into such debauchery again!!!

Stayed up way too late both Friday and Saturday Night, having way too many chats with great people! Including of course a far too detailed discussion of cuck chairs (much after tall the kids had left of course!!)

Kinda suffering from the lack of sleep now, but totally worth it!

I've signed up for an Old World Warhammer Tournament in March! Finally I get to have my guys on a proper battlefield! I'm very excited!

Ireland is too small. What do you mean one of 8 other people in my improv class has been to one of the Hearthfire live shows before?!

Anyway! Time to focus on the positives, and enjoy learning and improving, for it's own sake.

Also a big thank you to @benjour.bsky.social for prompting me into it and joining with him! Having a friend there is 100% taking the edge off!

This is kinda just speaking to the void at this point, but my wife asked me how I was feeling about it last night, and I didn't have the words to vocalise my thoughts fully beyond, i'm excited and nervous.

Hence ignoring work to work through it here.

(though i've not evolved my words that much)

I've definitely felt stagnant in my personal growth and development, despite having done a myriad of super cool things as part of Hearthfire, for example.

So all this to say, I am looking forward to the experience, but i'm also decently nervous, even if I realise that it's not logical.

But I struggle a lot with not being good at things, and I place a lot of my self worth in how capable I am at the things that I do. I also definitely shy away from doing things that I feel I won't be good at.

However, growth can't come from standing still, or staying inside the lines!

Excitement and risk, yes, but there's something very different about willingly putting yourself into a position where you have to accept, hey, i don't know shit about this, and I likely will be shit at this, at least to start.

And logically, I know that that's ok, that's just how learning works!

these have been things that i'm already somewhat familiar with it.

The business is a formalisation of the stuff i'm doing with HearthFire, Crossfit is just how I used to train but a different approach now, LARP is just D&D to the next level.

There wasn't much vulnerability in doing these things.

I start improv classes tonight, and i'm only really now realising that it's been about 7/8 years since i've put myself in a position like this that is outside of my comfort zone.

I've pushed myself a lot in areas i'm already comfortable in, like owning a businss or starting crossfit or LARP, but

‘Twas great fun!

The cat is slightly coming out of the bag, and I am very excited to say that I recently got to run a game with the amazing @dougcockle.bsky.social as a player!

We're currently starting the edit atm, and it's looking great!
