I am preparing a reaction at a 2 mmol scale, which would correspond to 53 mg of Mg (1.1 equiv to starting material) and I arbitrarily picked 20 mL of THF. What are your thoughts on this? Too small of a reaction? Is there a general concentration range you like to target?

Does anyone have a no nonsense guide to preparing Grignard reagents?

Tutorials on YouTube are either very low quality or about the mechanism of a Grignard.

I would love a step-by-step general guide.

That said, all this chat about “non-precious metal” this, “Earth abundant metal” that. Where is a review on the most toxic, precious metal catalyzed reactions? Surely there are Uranium, Polonium, or Lead catalyzed Suzuki couplings.
