"Without a change in our approach, in the presence of increasingly powerful technologies, the scale of the impact of their externalities will be similarly exponential. It should be obvious that this trajectory cannot be maintained on a finite planet."

This article says Medium Chain Chlorinated Paraffins are harmful to human health. That means it's likely they are harmful to all wildlife. It sickens me every day the disregard we have for life on the only planet in the entire universe we know has life, the exploitation of innocents. πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”

There are so many ways we've poisoned the entire planet, and we find new ways we're doing it all the time. Even if we were able to "solve" climate change, reverse wildlife loss, repair habitats, tear down the dams and free the rivers, the poisons will last for eons.

How a race for electric vehicles threatens a marine paradise Photographs appear to show how nickel mining damaged one the world's most diverse marine environments

And we are rapidly destroying ecosystems around the world. Soon we will discover that we cannot eat or drink cars, batteries, steel. By then it will be far, far too late. 🀷☠️☠️☠️☠️

Nickel mining in Indonesia is destroying forests and marine ecosystems. Nickel is used in batteries and steel, among other things.
There is absolutely nothing "green" about EVs, nothing "critical" about "critical minerals". What is critical is flourishing, intact ecosystems. >>

EVs are not a solution, of any kind. They are simply another way to perpetuate this ecocidal way of life using electricity (fossil fuels once removed) instead of fossil fuels directly... plus all the materials, roads, plastic, wildlife death from cars and trucks, and pollution that ALL cars produce.

EU appetite for EVs drives new wave of deforestation in tropical forests Brazil, which accounts for large reserves of nickel, graphite, rare earths, lithium and niobium, would be one of the most affected countries.

How long is going to take before people stop believing EVs are "green"? How much more biodiversity do we have to lose, how much more forests, how much more pollution will be spewed into the environment, how many more wildlife will be killed, and habitat lost?

β€œThis is potentially a win-win outcome" Not for the environment it's not. Mining is a disaster for every living being and every ecosystem. You can't "global trust" your way out of that.

Their words are honeyed traps, their names sanctified brands, crafted to seduce trust and deflect scrutiny. Every virtue they signal is a mask for to distract from the damage they inflict. I'd take honest truth about the desire to destroy life on planet Earth style over that any day.

... utter horrors. They are masters of moral disguise. They cloak themselves in the language of justice and progress, parading slogans, titles, and causes as shields. They perform goodness like theaterβ€”loud, polished, and publicβ€”while behind the curtain, they orchestrate harm with clinical precision.

But in the long run it does nothing to serve life or Life. I do think it would be interesting to have a discussion about the "moral hazard" of pushing so many people onto false solutions that will only perpetuate this ecocidal way of life.

NO. The time for false solutions, and "let's pretend" is over. The 6th mass extinction is near its end, and all of life deserves more.
We must be brutally honest. The things he says are in service of life (small l) are not in any way, because yes they do perpetuate the super organism.

TNC is *actively* making things worse! They are responsible for SO MUCH DESTRUCTION but people think they are good because they have "nature" and "conservancy" in their name, so they must be good, right?
