Been playing some games like Pokemon / No Mans Sky and such to ease off the burnout!

But, with the month over, I'm planning on getting back into the thick of it!

Oh right, I can update y'all on the coding side of stuff.

Basically, I've restructured Actors (the thingies that become NPCs, enemies, and the player, etc) to be more modular. Cleaned up a LOT of code.

Now I'm onto the stage where I can start making ENEMIES. Dats pretty neat, huh? 👀

the Cave Story mockup that almost came out officially.
I worked with the Cave Story publisher Nicalis for a few months developing a pixel art but higher resolution version of the game.

As a huge Cave Story fan I've been wanting *more* but as you've said, Nicalis is an odd publisher. Makes me wish for what could've been. 😭

I originally used the quote sprite as a reference for our player character (16x16) but I wanted more personality (now 16x24)

Looks like you did both haha, chunky and cute while also adding lots of detail. Gonna have to look closely at some of the tricks you used in these

We're working on a game inspired by Cave Story ourselves, I had no idea these existed!

Looking at these gives a lot of insight on the aesthetic! 🤩

Just one more thing...

Ive had that happen to me before. I usually approach it with a different perspective, I usually try to make something I want to make but focus on a particular fundamental. That usually helps me at least.
