Well-to-do millennials still obviously have middle class class interests, but they are going to be the lodestone of elite opinion for a long time and the state needs to grasp that

It’s been true for a long time - the state still hasn’t grasped that millennials aren’t young any more. They have in some cases adult children themselves, they’re occupying senior leadership positions that lobby the state and they’re also, after boomers, the next largest voter bloc by a country mile

We’re also I think now by virtue of having kids, a bit less concentrated in cities, and in any case, those seats are now up for grabs too

- basically now that Boomers are aging out, well to do older millennials and younger Gen X are suddenly occupying senior roles all over the place, and millennials are also by far the next largest voting generation

There’s definitely been a bit of a change recently. You can suddenly see student loans become A Thing again, decades after the original protests, and the leasehold thing too. The response is to try and swat it away but you can see that they hadn’t anticipated the issues being this annoying -

I’m not sure this is true. Frank Field, Kate Hoey etc were all long standing Labour MPs. Labour has always had, from various angles, whether on crime, immigration, petty bans and restrictions, lots of MPs who aren’t exactly liberals

London on its own had nearly 5 million people in 1880 whilst the whole of the England/Wales/Scotland was about 30m!!!
