My time in policy showed me that the biggest levers for change are not at the frontline, but in the systems, incentives, and technologies that shape it. The problem isn't the players; it's the game itself.
#HealthPolicy #HealthTech
In community pharmacy, I saw the human cost of a reactive system every day. We were dispensing solutions at the end of a long chain of events, but rarely had the power to influence the start of that chain.
#NHS #Healthcare
After years on the NHS frontline and time in government policy, I've realised we are experts at managing the consequences of ill-health.
The real challenge is shaping the causes. But how? ๐งต"
Building the future of healthcare requires all professionals to lead.
I propose for every hospital in the UK to have a Pharmacy Innovation Fellow to increase the spread and adoption of innovation and undertake research in their hospitals.

Antimicrobial Resistance isn't just a health crisis, it's a defence crisis too, affecting health security. Imagine a situation antibiotics don't work and people die of once treatable illnesses? I outline the impact of water pollution on antimicrobial resistance.

Despite our political differences it's important to build relations across the board and it was great to meet someone who genuinely cares about patient safety.

I'm on a mission to help pharmacists transition into alternative roles using their pharmacy skills; I've found a couple of interesting opportunities within the New Hospital Programme.
Both are Band 8c Clinical Fellow posts in NHS England:

19.11.2024 10:08 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Itโs clear there is a need for a cadre of ops managers, like a fellowship, to support other countries with less developed management career pathways, and perhaps something the ODI Global or The Commonwealth Fund could explore.

๐ฑImplementing telemedicine and digital health solutions which require less physical infrastructure to improve rural access.
๐ซ Develop education and preventative programmes in partnership with healthcare professionals and so freeing up valuable clinical time to see more patients.

Ops managers can make a difference in 3 key ways:
๐ Data driven decision making. By allowing clinicians to focus on delivering care, ops managers can use data to deploy resources (clinicians and supplies) into the best place.

๐ High disease burden โ High mortality in maternal and children. Malaria is one of the largest killers in the country and there is lingering Ebola.
