Join us today, from 10am-2pm, at the Hawaii Science & Technology Museum in Hilo for a special demonstration of modular synthesis and DIY systems.

Excited for tomorrow’s meetup at the Hawaii Science & Technology museum. We are demonstrating a semi-modular setup from Make Noise, as well as showcasing a modular performance from one of our community members, Jetfinger. His massive DIY modular kit is stunning and worth your visit. 🤙

A select few members will be demonstrating some unique modular systems in a quadraphonic setup, so this should make for some truly interesting sonic experiences.

On August 2nd (10-2pm), Hawaii Synthesizer Club will be hosting another meetup at the Hawaii Science & Technology museum.

Today was a great event for the club. Mahalos to everyone who attended. 🙌

Tomorrow is the HSC “Petting Zoo” meetup at the Hawaii Science & Technology Museum (10-2pm).

We have some awesome pieces of gear slated, and what should be a cool modular demo and exposition (1pm).

Attendees need headphones with a 1/4” plug, in order to play the gear.

Hosting a “Petting Zoo” and live generative modular synth exposition on 10 May 2025 in Hilo. Will take place from 10am - 2pm at the Hawaii Science & Technology Museum.

Please bring a pair of headphones w/ 1/8” connector and a 1/4” adapter, to experience the synths.

Aw dang! Too bad the fountain chilled out. It has been crazy intermittent this series. Pretty cool to see the lake, though. In 2020, there was a literal lake at the bottom of a much deeper caldera, several thousand feet under the present surface. Wild how much lava has come to the spot.

We will also make recordings of live events and make them available online for supporters to hear and purchase. In special cases, we will produce physical media and make it available for sale. Both of these will often be accompanied by video of said events.

Hawaii Synth Club will soon offer merchandise — stickers, apparel, coffee mugs, pint glasses, more — as a revenue stream.

These will be great ways for people to show their support.

We also need involvement from local venues and businesses that can offer spaces to hold these events. For live performances a theater will be key. But classrooms, conference rooms, warehouses — any space that is safe to be present and has electricity — these will be needed.

It will require a network of energized contributors to bring training seminars and lectures, instruction and demos. People who can give their time and attention to the cause will lessen the financial burden.

We are asking for contributions from the community of music-makers, educators, music-lovers, manufacturers, and businesses across the globe.

Money will help HSC realize some of the above, but it will need to involve members from the community to bring alternative perspectives.

Our long-term goal is to create a scholarship program that helps young adults make in-roads to college music programs.

This will not be an easy task, but we have some ideas about how to accomplish the above objectives…

HSC will work toward generating enough revenue to enable some of these schools to have access to production tools and instruments, as well as provide education on how the music technology can help them make music of their own.

HSC has as its mission to take some of these in-person experiences to schools where keiki can hear diverse music and lay hands on some of the same tools used to make the music they hear (and love) outside of school.

We are presently fundraising to secure a PA system, so that we can begin offering lectures and interviews, music-technology training, gear demos, live-music events, like individual and group performances from the club.

Right now, HSC conducts meetups, where we socialize and share information and gear in the moment.

These “gear bazaars” give people an opportunity to experience the tools — drum machines, synthesizers, etc — that they might otherwise not have the chance to lay hands on.
