We stand in solidarity with AFGE members working without pay today at TSA, Dept of Defense, Dept of Treasury, HHS, HUD and SSA.

We support efforts to keep these Agencies funded while Congress limits CBP/ICE appropriations amid their illegal and deadly actions across the country.

Following the killing of AFGE Member Alex Pretti and the subsequent slanderous rhetoric that followed from top Trump administration officials, AFGE National President Everett Kelley issued the following statement: “Yesterday, AFGE brought together labor and faith leaders from Minneapolis and across the nation to mourn our fallen brother from Local 3669, Alex Pretti. We honored his life and legacy and lifted up his family, his friends, his union, Minneapolis, and our nation in prayer. “Today, we demand accountability. “In the immediate aftermath of Alex’s killing, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem betrayed the public trust by slandering the good name of our union brother and calling him a “domestic terrorist.” Alex Pretti was a patriotic ICU nurse at a VA hospital who devoted his life to serving America’s veterans. That claim was reckless, defamatory, and unsupported by the facts. Noem was preceded in this false statement by Stephen Miller, Deputy White House Chief of Staff, who is also the architect of the chaotic and failed immigration policy in Minnesota. “Our demand is clear: Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who was responsible for carrying out the policy that led to Alex’s needless killing, and Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, the architect of that policy, must resign immediately. If they refuse, President Trump must dismiss them.

Justice will start with our Senators voting to deprive the Department of Homeland Security of the resources to terrorize our citizens. We urge @durbin.senate.gov and @duckworth.senate.gov to vote against appropriations for DHS this week.

AFGE Local 704 stands in solidarity with Alex’s loved ones, AFGE Local 3669 and the entire Minneapolis community in their grief. We will not sit idly by as our members are subjected to violence. We demand justice for Alex Pretti.

This tragedy is further proof that the actions of CBP and ICE in our community are out of control, endangering the public, and taking lives with zero accountability.

No family should have to endure the pain of having their loved one’s life snatched away in this manner. We demand an immediate, thorough, and independent investigation into this incident. Those responsible must be fully investigated and held accountable for criminal actions.

Pretti, a member of AFGE Local 3669, devoted his life to caring for our veterans. He was a public servant who served the American people and swore to uphold the Constitution. He was a valued member of our union.

We are heartbroken and outraged to learn of the murder of our union sibling, Alex Pretti, by federal agents today in Minneapolis.

If we don’t protect federal whistleblowers, corruption like this will remain hidden.

Trump officials fire EPA employees for signing dissent letter The move to terminate the staffers marks an escalation in the Trump administration’s effort to clamp down on dissent within the federal bureaucracy.

EPA’s goal is clear.

They want to intimidate us out of speaking out against their agenda of destruction.

But we aren’t going to be bullied. We will continue fighting back, because that is the oath we took. We will protect human health and the environment, no matter what.

Trump killed union contracts for Chicago EPA workers on Tuesday. This is allowed, the president declared, because agencies, such as the EPA play a role in national security.

Critics say the move is no more than union busting.

An attack on our union is an attack on every union.
