First fandom I read fanfic for was DBZ, back when I was 16, through various GeoCities/Angelfire sites. First fic I wrote was a DBZ/Sailor Moon crossover, back during FF.net's first year, when it was still cool. My dream was to launch my own fanfic archive site. I miss those internet early years...

Can confirm! I used to do the above for a tiny MMO producer. We were free to take liberties on a surprising amount of content. Sadly, verifying the accuracy of translations takes too much time for most companies to invest in. We were pressed for quantity, not quality, which was a frustration.
