Not steeper, just a little more time would need to be spent. 3D principles are the same no matter what software you're using, so if Houdini/VFX/sim work is what you're going for, might as well start with Houdini! Apprentice is great and Indie is only $200/yr.

I made a comment about King Crimson. My wife said, "That would be so sad--his makeup would run!"

It took us a minute to realize she meant King Diamond.

It's hard to say as there were a couple of years of start/stopping as life kept intervening. I came in with a general knowledge of 3D from Maya but making the switch to points and nodes took some adjustment. My first pro gig was 2021 but I still have days of despair (but more of triumph).

From the Cleveland, TN, jail dockets comes this unfortunate name.

This is just an exercise in procedurally modeling, rigging, and animating some critters that I did a couple of years ago, using #houdini and rendered in #ue5, but the lighting annoyed me, so I gave it a little goose. Some have suggested that I use less horrible sound, but they are wrong. #friends

This started out as me playing with @lukas.thorup 's 2D-smoke-sim particle advection setup, then I added some colliders, some custom velocities fields just 'cause, and some velocity-based-emission shaders, and, lo, something not floppy/gross/silly happened.
