I hope you aren’t drunk and took your staff’s advice, Rashida and I don’t know this man and feel confident he didn’t care about us. Please restrain from drinking too much as you have been warned from your staff and stay off social media when you are drunk. I pray in his holy month you find peace and respect for your self,

Hire and platform religion journalists who understand that conservative American Christianity today is not the same thing as when Left Behind came out. And who understand that not all Christians in the US are white conservatives.

OCASIO-CORTEZ STATEMENT ON
TRUMP'S COMBAT OPERATIONS IN IRAN
"The American people are once again dragged into a war they did not want by a president who does not care about the long-term consequences of his actions. This war is unlawful. It is unnecessary. And it will be catastrophic.
"Just this week, Iran and the United States were negotiating key measures that could have staved off war. The President walked away from these discussions and chose war instead.President Trump flippantly acknowledged the possibility of American casualties, stating "that often happens in war.'
"Mr. President: this was not an inevitability. This is a deliberate choice of aggression when diplomacy and security were within reach. Stop lying to the American people.
"Violence begets violence. We learned this lesson in Iraq. We learned this lesson in Afghanistan. And we are about to learn it again in Iran. Bombs have yet to create enduring democracies in the region and this will be no different.
"In moments of war, our Constitution is unambiguous: Congress authorizes war. The President does not. I will do my part to uphold our Constitution by voting YES on Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie's War Powers Resolution. Every member of Congress must join us in rejecting this aimless war.

There’s no timeline in which sudden revocation of the tariffs are not disastrous for American auto manufacturing and the UAW. For that reason alone it makes sense for Fain to be consistent in his support for maintaining the Biden era tariffs, even if in the long term that isn’t desirable.

It’s been in a state of decline in large part because auto manufacturers have moved factories to places with lower labor costs.

What Whitmer and Fain are doing is threading the needle on maintaining the Trump 1.0 and Biden auto tariffs while opposing Trump’s tariff abuses. I’m going to disengage now- I’m off to dinner with my UAW retiree neighbors.

Your hyperbole is a childish attack on one of the biggest and best American unions and a demand to sink an already struggling state economy into permanent recession.

Auto jobs are a load bearing part of our state economy at around 10%, and they tend to be well-paying, stable jobs that have an outsized impact. MI UAW workers voted for Harris at around +20 points. Whitmer had the same tariff position as Fain.

Okay, how about the community of 10 million people in Michigan? Fain is well within the bounds of MI Dems here. And we are the most affected state by Trump’s tariffs!!

What response do you want exactly to calling Fain a Trump collaborator, which is a blatant falsehood? It seems like you just hate UAW for some reason and I take offense that you casually talk about putting hundreds of thousands of people out of work and annihilating my state’s economy.

Please delete this and stop spreading misinformation. Shawn Fain supported Harris along with most of the UAW. In Michigan, the UAW supported Harris by around a 20 point margin.

Shame he has to do what’s best for UAW members as they actually exist and not just what makes the best headlines for national Democrats.

Like yeah every Dem should vote no on every Trump nominee because they’re untrustworthy and evil, but in theory it doesn’t seem technically difficult to restrict ads on an FDA list of junk foods

WHO warns on kids’ digital exposure to junk-food ads
If a food is high in fat, salt or sugar, it is likely being promoted in ads placed in websites and apps aimed at children.
I don’t know if Means has a special definition of ultra-processed, but I don’t think it’s actually that opaque of a category, and most people know what that and “junk food” means. I looked and apparently there’s some support from WHO on these types of ad restrictions www.ama-assn.org/public-healt...

I’ve spent time on the picket lines talking to nurses at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital who are on strike right now. These nurses want to go back to work. They want to serve and heal. All they ask for is something basic and fair: safe conditions that allow them to care for their patients effectively.
