Many good updates are coming with 5.0 for sure. Blender's hair system is extremely performant. Together with cycles and simulation, I believe it is becoming a viable alternative for many productions. Also yes, in 5.0 Cycles got a new strand type which handles custom normals better, Linear 3D curves.

Last year, @wolfdenden.bsky.social ordered energy drinks for the @crittercrewanim.bsky.social team. This year we got apple juice and I made the design fit to this year's theme. Fun fact: MLEM has existed in Greeny's universe since EF28. 👀

Rigging a model with fur has it's own pitfalls. Always make sure to fully test it with the fur visible.
