Curled up in a tree, wing draped over his body. The only things visible beyond his wing were a head tilted down on said wing and long flowing silver hair.

Like they killed their teacher, eat their heart to gain their magical power. Then promptly hunted all other archmagi and did the same to them.

And he used souls of those they had slain as fuel for their magic via a special ring. Once the soul was used up, that's it. It could never live again.
