OECD report shows LNP climate irrelevance, while Safeguard Mechanism among least effective emissions reduction schemes in world The report demonstrates that Australia’s safeguard mechanism remains one of the least effective programs for reducing emissions, and relies the most on carbon credits.

So the Libs are irrelevant? Great we knew that. But an OECD report released overnight put the focus on the actual govt and the Safeguard Mechanism which is quite the dud

He has to take the blame for what HECS has become (which ws completely forseeable) and the ALP shift to the right. And for his own values "get a haircut and get a real job" which we still see in the demonisation of people on welfare.

Negotiators in BelΓ©m, Brazil, opened #COP30 with a stark warning: the race to avert catastrophic global heating is being sabotaged by a surge of climate disinformation. The falsehoods, spreading faster than ever online, threaten to derail fragile progress on climate action

Yes it is. Very... disheartening (to understate the feeling of existential threat)

I really liked Max Chandler-Mather when he was in and what he had to say about the renting classes and housing, as well.

However, my main issue is: how do we get action on climate change? No matter how great individual candidates in ALP are, the policies of the party won't give us that.

If climate change is the existential threat of our times, maybe we need to get over that and vote for any possibility of meaningful action. But yes. I understand that the disillusionment with *everyone* is real.

I just want to ask if it's worse to SAY you are dumping net zero... or just to keep approving coal mines which mean you have effectively dumped net zero even though you don't admit it?

Yes. Maybe their self-esteem should be trashed over the fact that incredibly sick people have to get treatment across the strait -?

I'd be happy if that didn't make the ALP even more complacent about inaction.

Our Work | Climate Council We’re working to create the massive, society-wide change needed to end climate pollution and keep our kids safe. Because there’s not a minute to waste.

The LNP, the astroturfing, all of it wants you feeling enraged and powerless #auspol. Pivot. Whenever you feel the fury channel it into programs that are trying to make a difference. You're not powerless. Support your local politics, or organisations like: www.climatecouncil.org.au/our-work/

Maybe the Greens will start standing more candidates. We have seen that independents grow when they get into office while some major party reps just rest on the party vote. Maybe Greens will prove more agile and willing to learn - ? Who knows. I am not voting for more of what I'm getting now.

I think that the point is how much can be spent in each electorate matters, if you have parties who have 'national' reach compared with very local campaigns. HaC's point on this was: no Teal who spent under (approx. $900,000) won their seat. ALP candidates benefit from party profile and spend.

The rent-seeking classes (with stock portfolios and properties) don't need to learn how to spell. Their wealth means people kowtow to their moronry.
