Well, I love your account! I think it’s brave to leave yourself open to the angry criticism of ppl who don’t care about animal cruelty. Last week someone wrote to me, “Some of need meat to live, I hope you know.” 🤷‍♀️

Additionally, I was listening to a podcast about the wasted animal lives in drug tests. This film sounds very informative. Ppl think we need meat to live - false - and they think we need animal testing for drugs - also false.

But, I just read an article in The New Yorker called “Cage Match: How forty-three Monkeys United Animal Rights Activists and the Right,” and I cannot believe what a fucked up world we live in. I totally confess that I stopped reading this “fatuous popinjay’s” pieces or interviews in the NYT. Instead, I go straight to the comments, which I often enjoy.

This is so sad. The good news is that there are really great vegan shoe companies, offering even luxury shoes. Clothing is the one aspect of being vegan that is the most difficult for me — but doing the research forces me to confront the source of all my clothes.

I do agree. My comment was based on human diets, but perhaps it just ‘feels’ carnivorous as there’s such a focus lately on heme-based proteins and raw milk & all that. It was when I stopped eating meat that I realized how much we do eat. Or, it could just be my own family.

People tell me all the time.

I used to watch 60 Minutes fairly regularly, but CBS is dead to me. There is no way I need to watch a liar get so much air time. I rarely text profanely, but fuck off.

I don’t want to mislead. I don’t eat meat as I’m anti animal industrial ag (and I’ve other reasons). So, I identify with vegans. I’m the only one in my family, & I take A LOT of verbal fire. I don’t think militant views or zealotry is cool. I’d never give anyone a hard time about their food.

I admit to being a plant only eater. I saw your duck & scrolled by. I don’t follow you, so I’m not sure why your posts are in my thread, but I agree with the suggestion to block people who are rude. The reality is that we live in a carnivorous world, and no minds will be changed through meanness.

In the case of protection for the Shire, all the different peoples had their part: the elves, the dwarves, men, women, and the trees called Ents. They weren’t all white “men.” They combined forces to save the world from the tyranny of evil: Sauron. The Shire was part of the saved world.

Once you read about animal agriculture, once you see it with your own eyes or through the lens of a camera, it would be a great act of cognitive dissonance to support it with your money. For most of my life, I did not look, but then…….some 8 years ago……. I did. 🌱

I don’t understand but two or three words of the Vietnamese my manicurist chatters to her co-workers but I love them all. They are the kindest, funniest human beings. What this administration wants to do is kill the vibrancy of a polyglot world of rich beauty. I hate them. I really do.

Trump is a petty tyrant, so I’m sure Mr. Soyinka is unsurprised. I read two of his plays (& a few poems) at university, and a common theme is political oppression. He’s must be wonderfully old, and I’m sure this revocation confirms his experience in the stupid small minded cruelty of this world.
