And no, it’s not because they don’t brush them! The enamel in their teeth actually contains iron which they get from their food and this gives them the strength to gnaw through wood. 🪵

Lovely lichens 💚

Winter is a great time for spotting lichen. They're less hidden by foliage and increased rainfall rehydrates them, giving many species of lichen a brighter and more colourful appearance.

Our amazing volunteers have worked tirelessly to remove an incredible 45 tonnes of dead cotoneaster that had encroached onto the limestone grassland at Rhyd y Foel, Conwy. This will help restore this rare and vulnerable habitat. 💚

Our staff and volunteers competed in this year's Hedge Match, competing against the likes of Keep Wales Tidy, AONB staff and Flintshire Countryside services. We were also joined by many more independent contractors and inspirational volunteers who all practice this ancient method of laying hedges. 💚
