Villanova is losing key starters from its FCS semifinal team. Could the transfer portal be an option to retool?

Several starters are graduating or moving on to other schools, though running back Ja'Briel Mace will return. But the program has questions at quarterback and other key spots ahead of the 2026 season.

Forged in Baltimore, Bryce Lindsay has overcome his share of adversity. Now he’s ’Nova’s leading scorer. The guard lost his mother to cancer in his senior year of high school. "He faced more than most people could imagine, but he turned it into fuel to grow mentally and emotionally,” his father says.

Villanova’s Bryce Lindsay has battled adversity around every corner.

When asked about his resilient career, Lindsay laughed. "It's crazy that you use the word resilient," he said. "I was about to get that [as my] next tattoo."

One last dance in Villanova Stadium with a trip to Nashville on the line.

Braden Reed makes a name for himself in Year 1 with Villanova: β€˜He’s not a freshman anymore’ The receiver spent most of the year on special teams, but in the last two playoff games, Reed caught the game-winning touchdown. He could play a larger role for Villanova in the FCS semifinals.

Villanova football’s Braden Reed is making an impact as a true freshman, but he isn’t viewed as one anymore.

Villanova’s Ja’Briel Mace hears from Brian Westbrook after breaking former Eagle’s record Sparked by a 198-yard second half, the third-string back rushed for 291 yards against Towson to eclipse Westbrook's record.

Ja’briel Mace is humble. He’ll credit his offensive line for his success before himself.

Yet, his name is at the top of the program record list for rushing yards in a single game.

Shane Hartzell has been the rock of Villanova’s defense. His goal in this final season? Leave a legacy. He's been a statistical leader, feted with awards, and is the go-to presence on the Wildcats' defense. But for the Perkasie native, leaving a mark on the program matters more.

Shane Hartzell is a man of few words, but a lot of tackles.

He has been a quiet key asset to Villanova football for the last few seasons.
