This is why I chafe at jokes about how high gas prices are part of the "war on cars." People won't suddenly stop driving because gas prices are high. We need to make bicycling safer, we need to make transit more accessible and efficient. We know that safe bike infrastructure entices people to bike!

Big turnout at the Portage Park bike network meeting! I heard lots of support, so I’m hopeful for safer, more connected streets 🚲

Cycling advocates: The mayor endorsed us. Now he advocates against us. In 2023, Mayor Brandon Johnson endorsed our bike grid plan. Now, he advocates against us and our right to safe infrastructure.

New from us! Mayor Brandon Johnson endorsed us in 2023, now he is against our safety. The City of Chicago opposes HB2454, a bill that would make bicyclists intended users of all roads only on a disconnected network of streets rather than all streets.

Separated Bike Lanes Means Safer Streets, Study Says β€” Streetsblog USA Cities that build protected lanes for cyclists end up with safer roads for people on bikesΒ and people in cars and on foot, a new studyΒ of 12 large metropolises revealed Wednesday.

β€œAfter analyzing crash data over a 13-year period in areas with separated bike lanes on city streets, researchers estimated that having a protected bike facility in a city would result in 44% fewer deaths and 50% fewer serous injuries than an average city.”

Safer for ALL.
