Another Winter Olympics in the books and my quest to be the last white man with nothing to say about curling continues.

in case anyone ever needed confirmation that it's not about building a democratic Iran, it's about collapsing Iran and turning it into a land of rubble that can be bombed every six months

If Bond movies were show dogs, I feel like Thunderball would be the "breed standard." For better and worse.

Don't interrupt your enemy while they're making twenty years of mistakes, is that how the saying goes?

I think I've read variations on this post a half-dozen times over the last couple of decades. Beginning to suspect that their interests in doing so are not related to whatever the US is doing, or they don't actually want to.

Not a single one of these psychos cares even a little bit about the people being bombed. I hate them all

It certainly doesn't land when part of your response to that transparently cynical move is to embrace ex-Republican neoconservatives and claim you're the party of doing hawkishness seriously.

28.02.2026 23:35 β€” πŸ‘ 37    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Well sure but this was about more than just that guy

"He's lying about being a thing we also aren't" doesn't land even when it is true.

It's remarkable how dimwitted everyone is about the argument that the Democrats being hawkish opened a lane for Trump *to lie about* being dovish. It not only made for popular rhetoric, it did so from a position authentically hawkish Democrats couldn't effectively attack.

From US admin official background briefing recording listening to, seriously question if US negotiators understood what Iranians were proposing. One official keeps saying acronym for β€œIAEA” wrong.
They seem astonished Iran would not agree to the US supplying them nuclear fuel

Am not saying what Iran proposed would have been enough, I dont know, but it seems US negotiators did not have the expert guidance to understand it correctly

On top of all the reporting that this war of aggression was planned well in advance, it seems that the reporting also indicates that the US political leadership are quite literally too stupid to understand basic diplomacy. I mean literally not smart enough.

like venezuela, this is yet another thing trump would not have done, would never have done, if he were actually a russian asset. but that doesn't stop the theorizing.

Imagine if Israel and Iran/Hezbollah/etc had an unofficial understanding to just let a Palestian state exist, but kept up the belligerent rhetoric and occasional zero-casualty provocation. Would that situation be... worse?

How to explain the virtues of strategic ambiguity to a mixed Bsky audience... if PRC and the USA are both bad, then vaguely agreeing to ignore the huge potential flashpoint between them is beneficial not only to both parties and the world at large, but also specifically said flashpoint.

Extremely unlikely in both cases, especially the former. The current President and Khamenei were both in favor of diplomacy.

28.02.2026 20:17 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

indiscriminately bombing Iran is not a distraction of the Epstein files, it is a validation of their significance as more than a sex pest hunt. this is what elite impunity for morons looks like. a school turned to rubble on a whim.

28.02.2026 15:42 β€” πŸ‘ 1954    πŸ” 446    πŸ’¬ 10    πŸ“Œ 3

If true this will increase the chances Iran actually decides to develop nuclear weapons, on account of Khamenei being opposed to doing that.

28.02.2026 19:49 β€” πŸ‘ 153    πŸ” 29    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 2

Why don't Zionist Democrats (and also all half dozen moderate Republicans) notice the writing on the wall and follow polling? In a way they are. They know the domestic political environment for Israeli impunity will only get worse from here, so they're going for it.

It's superfluous to say it, one feels stupid saying obvious things, but the most-of-the-Democratic-party that said yes to doing a genocide of the Palestinians is saying and will say and has said yes to starting a ludicrous and obscene and criminal and existentially dangerous war with Iran.

28.02.2026 14:37 β€” πŸ‘ 67    πŸ” 15    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 1

Trump's contribution to American politics is showing that pretense isn't necessary. You don't have to shake your head somberly when you do evil, you can say you're doing it because you want to. Why bother with PR when no one can stop you?
