Ten forest firefighters from the Island are in Saskatchewan to help with the wildfire situation in that province. There are also two Island forestry staff in Manitoba assisting with fires there in safety roles.

Islanders are invited to join the Red Dress Walk, hosted by the Aboriginal Women’s Association of PEI Inc., at the Wyatt Heritage Properties in Summerside on Monday, May 5, from 6 to 8 pm AWAPEI encourages all participants to wear red.

May 5 is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, to recognize and honour the lost lives of Indigenous women and girls. It is also known as Red Dress Day.
