I can’t imagine a world in which I just get paid to write, like it’s my actual job, get up, crack on. Maybe I even have an assistant to help with admin and stuff. Incredible. I mean, I still wouldn’t actually DO any writing, but what a thought.

One thing that particularly winds me up in corporate-speak is people who say, “in terms of…” before saying anything at all. E.g:

“Where’s my fucking coffee, Rick…?”

“So, in terms of where’s your fucking coffee…”

Cause of death: broken display. Reason given was that it was “almost a decade old” (it’s 8 years old) and therefore could not possibly have hoped to sustain its life. It was doomed before it even reached the hands of a genius. RIP laptop, we barely knew you 😔 🕊️

Genius investigation concluded: “It’s broke mate. £371. Plus VAT”

A second genius has arrived and managed to get the charger in the hole

At the Apple “Genius Bar”. They’re just trying to find the right charger for my MacBook Air, so far they’ve tried two different ones which haven’t fit into the hole.
