Of course not. This is exactly as planned. You have already voted in your last election. There won't be any more.

EXCLUSIVE TO ALL NEWSPAPERS
POWDER KEG UK ABOUT TO BLOW UP AS BRITAIN STANDS ON THE BRINK OF THE WHOLE NATION DESCENDING INTO CIVIL WAR
by Our Apocalypse Staff
HELENA HANDCART
THE entire country has turned into a tinderbox, one spark and the whole thing could turn into a raging inferno of hatred and violence. All it needs is one little push - preferably from us - and this once peaceful island will explode.
It may not take much, maybe an article with some badly researched facts, maybe some exaggerated and provocative hyperbole, and before we know it there'll be blood on the streets, and flames too, as millions of furious citizens attack each other, the police, and the emergency services,
not to
mention the armed forces should they tragically be called in to deal with the hate-filled mob rampaging through our cities, towns and villages, armed with burning torches and pitchforks, calling for justice, free speech and the immediate death of everyone they don't like. (Top journalism, Ed).
Make no mistake, if Britain even exists by next week, we will run this piece again until someone sparks the tinderbox on the brink of the powderkeg that... (cont. for entire summer).
No one sums up the utter shamelessness of the British press and the ugly politics of Farage quite like Private Eye.

Ireland is debating the Occupied Territories Bill, banning trade with Israeli settlements in Israeli-occupied territories.
One US pro-Israeli politician said, “Ireland’s proposed boycott is a blatant attempt to isolate and delegitimize Israel on the world stage."
Yep. Exactly that. Suck it up.

A poem, written in grassy green chlorophyll:
Weeds don’t doubt
their worth, even when
they aren’t in bloom.
They know that to grow
is enough.
You’re a dandelion
in cracked paving
and I hope you flourish
out of spite.
The same poem in a notebook, with a dip pen, a glass of water, and a pot of deep green chlorophyll ink.
A beaker with some deep green chlorophyll solution, and a couple of test brushstrokes showing its grassy green colour.
A drop of chlorophyll solution in the bottom of a test tube, held in violet light, showing a rich red colour.
so i extracted some chlorophyll from some leaves and turned it into ink 🌿 also, fun fact, chlorophyll fluoresces red under violet or ultraviolet light

So no-one else has a copy of the Epstein files? They're unique? So delete or shred them already. Job done.
No? So there ARE multiple copies in existence. THAT's your delay right there: they're trying to track down every copy to get rid of them. Then finally they'll say, "Oops, we deleted them."

The problem isn't that transphobic parents are being ignored, it's that they're *lying about basic facts.* This is the dynamic on nearly every issue of public interest, from guns to climate change to economics.
"The bigots are lying again" is a fucking great message for democrats and it's true.

Wenn ich des Tages nicht dreimal mein Schälchen Coffee trinken darf, so werd ich ja zu meiner Qual wie ein verdorrtes Ziegenbrätchen.
If I'm not allowed to have my three little cups of coffee a day, I turn into a shrivelled-up bit of roast goat.

Not everywhere. Irish prices are up — my local Dunnes charges €18 for a 2×250g pack of Lavazza Rosso but I bought several 4×250g packs of their Mattineo in Carrefour France recently for €12 each: ⅓ the Irish price. But Irish supermarkets are the most profitable in the world (pace NZ) for this reason

My mother would buy it from a butcher who would first show her the meat he was using, then push it through the mincer while she waited. She wouldn't buy it from the tray of ready-minced beef in the display case because she wanted to see the quality of the meat first. It cost the same though.

Rudimentary residential electrical knowledge used to be something you learned from your parent[s], like "bare wires are dangerous" and "don't overload an outlet with adapters/extensions". Similar applies to plumbing and constructional. Not everyone now seems to have acquired this knowledge.

Screenshot of news from rte.ie saying "No AI on Daniel O'Connell stamp featuring TV aerial — An Post" (Television was not received in Ireland until 1949, some 105 years after the image depicted in the stamp). The stamp shows O'Connell standing in a carriage, arm aloft as he declaims his speech, with cheering crowd in front of him. To the left, an image of the GPO in O'Connell Street, to the right, a Dublin Georgian house and rooftop chimney with a UHF TV aerial on it.
Like my post a few days ago about the row over new Irish stamp of Daniel O'Connell, with a roof and TV aerial in the corner (no TV in Ireland until 105 years after). An Post insist AI was not used in making the image, but that the artist wanted to convey O'Connell's legacy enduring to modern days 😎

As someone long out of the UK, I'm curious to know at what point and why the British Labour Party turned from well-intentioned socialists into rabid right-wing full-on spittle-flecked authoritarian fascists just like the Tories they replaced.

I'd never heard of this before, but it sounds revolting. I've got a big crop of beans this year too but I'm just freezing what fits and eating or giving away the rest. I make Spanish or Indian spiced green beans, or any variation on haricots verts.

If companies conducted themselves decently instead of lying, cheating, and shafting the consumer, you could probably get rid of most labelling regs. They were introduced precisely because companies are grossly dishonest, so they have only themselves to blame.

I thought Ireland had the most profitable supermarkets in the world. Stuff here is regularly twice or more the price in the rest of the EU. It can't all be because we're an island; some of it is definitely down to unnecessarily sourcing from the UK instead of the EU.
