Strip Farming and the Wheat Stem Sawfly on the Canadian Prairies, 1930s-1940s Dust and grasshoppers dominated 1930s prairie agriculture, but wheat stem sawflies also impacted farming, complicating soil conservation and pest control efforts.

I’ve heard of a case of lambs dying after eating linseed cover crop. Young growth especially produces prussic acid (cyanide). Probably made worse as field had chicken muck so linseed put on a lot of lush young growth
