Looks about as good as it gets but absolute certainty can be hard to prove! Looks a powerful bird with long legs comp to Herrings. Nice dark eye mask and heavy angular bill all pro-YLG. Did it have all pink legs? (lacking dark shins of many LBBGs)Underwing covs slightly dark but maybe due to shadow?

Also, pure 3cy Meds usually have black extending along the webs of the primaries, unlike your bird which are limited to tips (BHG influence)

Do you have any more images of the upper wing?

Interesting bird Ian. Seems to have short legs, extent of hood less than usual Med at rear? (or could be due to posture?) Is the apparent white leading edge to flight feathers & leading wing coverts real or photographic artefact? Seems a good candidate for a BHGxMed hybrid rather than pure Med?
