Oy vey is that first chord a doozy, but it sounds so sweet and folds so nicely in to our 5 chord. From there we go to our groovy sounding 1 chord. For those of you with large enough hands, try using fingers 2 & 3 to play our 1 chord.
Groove on!

Anchor note on string 4, a diatonic descent on string 2, & a catchy little back & forth on string 1, what's not to love?!? Plus that sweet tension from the 7b9 chord? Chef's kiss!

I dig this 2-5 because we can use our 2nd finger as an anchor point to move from our 2 to 5 chord. Playing Dmaj7 as 2120 is physically less of a jump, and sounds nice, but I really dig the way this Dmaj9 resolves.
Groove on!

Pretty straightforward and resolves nicely. It can be considered a little boring, but sometimes that's nice, too.

Today's chord is Amaj7, the 1 in our 2-5-1 in A. One of the 4* main Major 7 chord shapes, our 7(G#)/3(C#) pair is on strings 4 & 3, our 5(E) is on string 2, & our root(A) is on string 1.
*Technically there are 5 shapes as you can swap the notes on the outer strings of this shape.

For an even smoother sound, try E9 (1222) which has 3 shared chord tones. If you find yourself searching for the ultimate in ludicrousness, try E9sus(2222) with 4 shared chord tones.
Dig it in a 2-5 & groove on:

Today's chord is E7, the 5 in our 2-5-1 in A. One of the 4 main 7th chord shapes, our 3(G#)/b7(D) pair is on strings 4 & 3, our root(E) is on string 2, & our 5(B) is on string 1.
Because our 2 & 5 chords share two chord tones, we get a smooth transition between chords.
