I’ll be the one to say it: somebody’s just got to take one for the team.” Futaba pushes her glasses up her nose like an anime mastermind, studying the group with a faux-grave expression. “I vote Yusuke or Ryuji.” “Um, for what?” Sumire asks. “Akira’s rebound arc. Obviously. Haru’s taken, Ann’s gay, and Makoto is too uptight, so—” “Excuse me?” says Makoto, her voice rising in pitch. Futaba waves a hand, dismissive. “Fine, fine.
