JAMA Cardiology presents a risk factor reduction study for atrial fibrillation. Population: 82 men, 40 women. Intervention: 122 patients randomized. Findings: LRFM group (61.3%) had higher freedom from atrial arrhythmia vs usual-care (40.0%).
Among patients with #AtrialFibrillation, elevated BMI, and 1 or more additional cardiometabolic risk factors, aggressive risk factor management reduced arrhythmia recurrence over the 12-month period after catheter ablation. ja.ma/4snlYOX

Graph A plots all-cause mortality, with 'CTA strategy' & 'Functional testing strategy' lines trending upwards. Graph B plots cardiovascular mortality, with similar lines. Numbers at risk are listed below each graph.
Initial testing choice between coronary CTA and stress testing for suspected CAD showed no difference in all-cause or cardiovascular mortality among patients with stable symptoms. ja.ma/3LdrnaE

Figure showing distribution of Apolipoprotein B (ApoB) and Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL-C) by status of genetic testing. It shows ApoB distribution & LDL-C distribution with tested & not tested status with number of patients.
Newborn screening using LDL-C and apolipoprotein B, followed by genetic testing, may substantially improve early diagnosis of familial hypercholesterolemia, a treatable genetic condition. ja.ma/4s4AnPO
