The guy with the Nazi tattoo has a lot of fans on here. I do not trust y'all's judgment and I don't trust him. You know, the guy with the Nazi tattoo.

Now I'm talking about something inherently unknowable with certainty (the 100% part is hyperbole) but it's not like the reasons to distrust Platner are subtle

And yes, this is my take on what happened to Fetterman. His stroke probably played some role in the process I'm describing.

For this reason, I expect him to buck the party line for affinity/negative polarization reasons. I dunno if that will be foreign policy, but it'll be something. My guess is he's most likely to be a problem on issues related to race, civil rights, lgbtq stuff, etc

To spell this out a bit more: Platner has a short resume, is not closely tied to the Democratic party's core institutions & constituencies, seems negatively polarized against the ppl most freaked out by the Nazi tattoo, and has some level of affinity to crypto racist stuff.

Obviously nowhere near the most important issue right now, but this is 100% going to be how Platner will act if he gets elected. Or possibly worse.

X as a website encourages people to do bigotry for likes and affirmation and this is the people who identify as left wing on there have decided it is morally acceptable to indulge in bsky.app/profile/bfis...

a whole lot of businesspeople learning in real time that a predictable and stable regulatory state - even if you don’t like some of the regulations - is vastly preferable to β€œboss man doesn’t like you so you’re fucked now”

Vance: β€˜No chance’ U.S. will be in drawn-out war in Middle East As President Trump contemplates military action in Iran, the vice president told The Post he still sees himself as a β€œskeptic” of overseas military intervention.

Yes, Vance's belief is entirely consistent with well-known truths in political science such as "all wars are short," "outcomes are predictable," "the stronger power always wins," and "the enemy doesn't get a vote"

democrats should internalize that this is what their colleagues think of them and act accordingly

yeah I’ve become much less tolerant of β€˜directionally correct’ stuff as a direct result of RFK. it matters if something is true. yes, even if the motivation for the lies is understandable and the target of them unsympathetic like big pharma is/was.

For like six months in college I quit drinking, still went to parties, just drank water, and universally people looked at me like by doing so I was judging them. I’ll never forget the experience.

Supreme Court Term Limits Are Not Going to Cut It The Biden commission’s tentative support for Supreme Court term limits sounds nice. It would do nothing to address its legitimacy crisis.

As true today as it was in 2020: The next Democratic-controlled government has to expand the Supreme Court. There’s simply no way for Democratsβ€”even Democratic majoritiesβ€”to accomplish anything for as long as this Court is a reactionary obstacle to everything

There's three votes for anything on the supreme court. If trump said "I'm the god-king of arrakis" he'd get three votes and a lengthy opinion about the long history and tradition of english common law with regards to the spice melange

This is Rahimi levels of demonstrating that originalism is bullshit and the conservative justices are complete intellectual frauds

I think it's three key things: conservative, dumb, still wants liberals to like him. #1 and #2 usually overwhelm #3

the glorious constitutional principle of "the president can't fuck with Supreme Court justices' investment portfolios" stands strong

This sort of thing is why I think associate justice Emil Bove is a live possibility.

Yeah, I think that's a good point and a good distinction. Crighton did seem to be more explicitly far right later in life but I suspect that was just him being less inhibited by his editor.

1: crewed Eve surface return
2: outer planets mod
3: original ksp single ship grand tour
