The DOJ and CFTC both had active investigations into Polymarket that were dropped after Trump took office.

This is going to be an extraordinary way to get for example conspiracy theorists and cult members to bet every penny they have on "the world will end on May 17" or whatever the hell the latest delusion is.

They've monetized and incentivized committing crimes against humanity.

Whatever discomfort people experience being told they are enabling fascism is very small in comparison to the discomfort they are inflicting on everyone else.

And my first job after Congress was as a meat cutter at my favorite bbq place. One of the best jobs I ever had.

I like to think I'm reasonably intelligent and it took me literally years to understand how insane the behavior was on the inside.

But I wouldn't have figured it out independently if people weren't calling it out.

Everytime I hear you all say, "don't tell staffers they're working for fascists" what I hear is you telling those family members whose family was killed by Phillip Morris's choices not to call Phillip Morris and materially impact their bottom line to say they killed their loved ones.

But ok.

And the thing that stuck out in his retelling (this is like 20 years ago) is that Phillip Morris had to pay customer service reps a shit ton more than industry standard to do that job, and still had an insane level of churn because those families kept calling.

And according to him Phillip Morris even sprung for therapists for them, but he got one phone call too many and he realized they could not pay him enough to absorb the trauma Phillip Morris had inflicted on millions of families by covering up that cigarettes caused cancer. So he quit.

He quit and took a massive pay cut in the process because too many of the calls ended up not being people trying to get swag, but phone calls from loved ones who had died from cigarettes (this was right after the cig lawsuits of the 90s/ early 2000s)

I've told this story before but I used to work customer service with this dude who had previously worked customer service for Phillip Morris. He was on the team doing something for their points club? Like if you bought enough cigs you could turn it in for like Marlboro swag or something?

And again, this is about heckling the staffers CHOOSING to work for government officials who are abdicating their constitutional duties.
