While the debate in the House is ongoing, the Senate is voting on a motion to discharge (bring out of committee for a vote) for their version of the stop attacking Iran resolution. It's currently losing 48-49.

Good as time as any to note that Thomas Massie's resolution to use congressional authority to stop attacks on Iran is still on the docket, but has yet to be called up for a vote.

While we wait on a vote for HR 7744, the House just began debate om H Res 1099, a resolution to reaffirm that 'Iran remains the largest state sponsor of terrorism.' Text hasn't been uploaded yet, but justifying an illegal war is about as fascist as you can get.

And yep, it's a one-for-one for HR 7147 with some edits to cover the shutdown.

I'm about halfway through and these things are, so far, identical. Not sure if this is a bill to re-establish the House's will to see it pass or potentially carve off a few Dems with the argument that DHS needs funded since we're at war with Iran now, but either way I hate it.

The House just started votes on the dozen or so bills introduced yesterday, so glad I don't have to rush this. Have both bills side by side and reading for any changes between the two.

Huge grain of salt here, but HR 7147 (the initial DHS appropriations bill) is 108 pages and HR 7744 is 107 pages. Kind of thinking this may be a copy/paste of the old bill? Feel like listening to debate is going to be a lot more illuminating than usual for this one.
