Recent research on the Phyllocnistis saligna complex in the Netherlands has shown that saligna is not present there!
Most mines are P.asiatica with P triandricola found in almond willow or rarely on purple willow.
We have both asiatica and triandricola in the UK. Barcoding is going on here.

Nice write up. Sorry to hear about Andrew Moon. First visited in 1970. Remember many good birds there, especially the summer plumage Grey Phalarope.

What looks like a dark morph Lapwing seen at #RSPBGreylake #Somerset this morning. It was very aggressive to any other Lapwing that came to close.

One of my favourite books is Wild America, the 1953 trip made by legendary naturalists Roger Tory Peterson (USA) and James Fisher (UK).
Some of it was filmed and RTP took that on tour to theaters across the States. Until today, that was the only opportunity to see it (1/2)

A Eurasian lynx reclines leisurely on a moss-covered rock, surrounded by a forest of tall trees.
Slovenia is smaller and more densely populated than Scotland. But despite its small size and relatively populous countryside, it's home to nearly 1,000 brown bears, over 120 wolves and a growing population of around 50 reintroduced lynx.

Then I found 8+ Tundra Bean Geese at Horsey. Then, at St. Benet's Abbey, I had great views of Black-winged Kite, Glossy Ibis, Short-eared Owl, and 7 cranes. Wow!

This enables them and their serfs to indulge in criminal behaviour that the rest of us wouldnβt dream of. That these crimes are wrought against OUR birds is indicative of the contempt in which the rest of us is held.
