"Not that I love music, but because the whole of life, its masters, its adventurers, then appeared in long ranks of magnificent human beings behind me; and I was the inheritor; I, the continuer; I, the person miraculously appointed to carry it on." Woolf

"Percival represents the old narrative order. His story is simple: he is the hero who goes out to the furthest reaches of his country's empire, though he finds not a grail but a grave. With the death of classical narrative the book can become
both an elegy and a release: a play-poem, in all senses."

"'Let me then create you. (You have done as much for me.) You lie on this hot bank, in this lovely, this fading, this still bright October day, watching boat after boat float through the combed-out twigs of the willow tree. And you wish to be a poet; and you wish to be a lover.""

yurtdışında yaşıyorum, sorulmadan tavsiye verilmesi her kültürde sinir bozucu bence. kendi fikrim böyle, bilen insana hiçbir sözüm olamaz, fikir danışılınca elbette cevap verilir.

I love the feeling of growing up inside books. That's the wonder of great books, you never forget the version of yourself who read them and was struck by them.

It became a sacred text for me, like Un coup de dés. I was so moved that I wrote a poem and an essay afterwards.

I had completely forgotten about it and I think I didn’t understand it when I first read it. I started reading it with Yourcenar's translation out of curiosity and to compare the two versions, but the English version was so beautiful I abandoned the translation and reread the whole book.
