I love the feeling of growing up inside books. That's the wonder of great books, you never forget the version of yourself who read them and was struck by them.

It became a sacred text for me, like Un coup de dés. I was so moved that I wrote a poem and an essay afterwards.

I had completely forgotten about it and I think I didn’t understand it when I first read it. I started reading it with Yourcenar's translation out of curiosity and to compare the two versions, but the English version was so beautiful I abandoned the translation and reread the whole book.

Büyük yazarları çok gençken okuyup tam anlamadan geçiyoruz. Son iki senedir Nabokov, Goethe ve Woolf'la bu yaşımda yeniden tanıştığıma çok memnunum.
