During the Gilded Age of the late 1800's (one of many so-called 'Golden Ages'), monopolies, worker exploitation, political corruption, and unsafe products were rampantβ€”profits came before ethics. πŸ’š #TheGoodMarket

Religious freedom wasn't just ethical, it was good for markets. In 17th-century Amsterdam thrived as a trade hub by welcoming religious minorities. The Edict of Nantes (1598) brought economic stability to France by tolerating Protestants. #TheGoodMarket πŸ’š

Liberalism’s roots trace back to Enlightenment thinkers like John Locke, who championed consent-based governance, individual rights, and separation of church & state. His ideas in Two Treatises of Government (1690) laid the foundation for modern economic systems. πŸ’š #TheGoodMarket

$50k a year UBI for every American adult would create an equally proportional tax on purchasing power. But it would raise taxes by 2x the percentage points for all. This would obviously be great in tandem with cutting government spending in half.

But we can't have both. πŸ’š
