Isn't that the truth. I just give up on Hairy and Downy woodpecker youths. It's so hard to figure out their beak length when they're young and I'm not taking a photo.

10.08.2025 06:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks. I looked up a photo of a juvenile black-headed grosbeak and that's exactly what it looked like! I'm just North of Seattle.
10.08.2025 06:20 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I wondered that too. The white doesn't form a sideways V by the eye so I'm torn. I have a lot of varied thrushes in my garden, but I know that there are grosbeaks in my area even though I haven't seen any in years at my house.

A young bird is holding on to a kiwi fruit vine that is dangling into the pond. It's managing to hold on and bathe at the same time.
Young bird totally drenched still holding on to the kiwi fruit vine as it moves up out of the pond after bathing.
This immature varied thrush (I think?) was doing a cirque de soliel act bathing in my backyard pond while hanging from a kiwi fruit vine. I love this time of year. There are so many different types of birds in the garden. #birds πͺΆ

Ha ha, don't try to take photos after you've been to the ophthalmologist.
Anyway, here's a slightly out of focus Bombus vosnesenskii on a noid pink dahlia. #BloomScrolling

Russ's dad's estate finally settled so we've got that off our shoulders. We had some great people helping us wade through everything.
I've been getting mine from Korea individually wrapped too. I'll have to scroll for color options. I like this style of mask because it fits comfortably on my face. They've kept me illness free for years now.

I never know what interesting things I might see when helping my son in his garden. Today it was a beautiful native banana slug. In the second photo you can see it's pneumostome (breathing hole).
