Wtf is this and how is this the recommended way to install... well... anything really.

I still don't quite understand what conda is supposed to *be*, but apparently using it to install sagemath involves downloading completely separate versions of perl, python, and open-jdk among a full GB of other crap. All of which definitely already exist on my system.

I don't see any option besides building from sources. (Which is not overly likely to succeed if I'm being honest.) I thought we were past this kind of bullshit.

Me, the naive dipshit: I'll just install sagemath real quick to check something.

That would make slightly more sense. (I maintain that that's not supported by the wording.) It still assumes that papers are rejected for actual problems and not because there's not enough room and the reviewers were slightly less enthusiastic than those for the other 20 perfectly fine papers.
