Nothing crazy, but added simple animations for the wall ride to make it clearer youre in that state, works going backwards too!

I think its finally time to focus on the art for a bit. Still plan on writing up a post about how I handled grinding too, didnt forget that lol

Are you using global_position of both the player and spawn point? That should put the player at the spawn point, weird if its putting them in a wall. Is the player scene at its own origin or offset at all?

Position wont work as intended unless theyre both siblings of the same parent since its local

Been doing a lot of little stuff so I could show off a full run like this! Still obviously early on, theres a lot of polish and bug fixing to do with basically everything, but all of the base mechanics are more or less in there!

This is also all stuff ive just put together in Godot, everything you see here is either CSG polys or models from Kenney. Its rough, but it works for quick prototyping imo, its let me iterate and tweak things easily in engine.

For now the grind zones are just visible and floating, but for the final level the grind rails will be stuff like fences and whatnot, with their grindable area set with a set of vertices in blender and generated on import using the same grind path scene.

Also the timer in the top right should stay at zero when finishing the last active delivery, there was a bug in my temp code to start the run on a button press lol. I rerecorded it, but couldnt pull of that combo at the start and I wanted to keep it in 😂

3D Fire VFX in godot. They're all basically combinations of static meshes with custom shaders and particles. Godot's node system feels great for stuff like this.

Made some wind chime tech. In the editor, I can author unique notes for each wind chime and preview them with an inspector button. In game, there's some nice physics interactions.

A look behind the curtains (or behind the canopy? 😜).
The collision geometry is completely rigid. To fake the look of physical response, the shader just has a single radial wave that is reinitiated for every impact detected.

Added some automated physics generation for cloth canopies and gave them some poofy feedback effects. Uses just one rigid body - no soft body or cloth simulation.
