But you have to walk past the much cooler real Centrosaurus skull to get there (and other wonders)

Here's some Colchester trivia that I know you'll appreciate - it is the site of Britain's only known earthquake fatality!

He absolutely is a royal. They can try and wash their hands of him all they want but being born into a life of enormous privilege is how he got where he is. Let's not forget that the queen paid one of his alleged victims Β£12 million in hush money!

Exhausted - and in some cases dead - Atlantic puffins have been washing up around the UK recently after storms have left them weak and unable to feed.

SVP Diversity Committee co-chair here. Feel free to dm me your thoughts. I’m working with DivComm and some other committees on an action plan and I’d love to know what you want to happen and what would make you feel safer, reassured, and welcome.

Speaking as someone who was involved in the sexual selection argument referred to here, along with @tetzoo.bsky.social and @davehone.bsky.social, I reckon Horner got thoroughly and convincingly panned. One of my main takeaways was how little actual biology some of these senior palaeo guys know... πŸ§ͺ

Personally I'm more cheesed off that you socialised with a convicted sex trafficker.

Back in 2018, my PhD supervisors @davehone.bsky.social and @robknell.bsky.social organised a conference with Doug Emlen to bring together palaeontologists and sexual selection scientists. Kevin Padian spoke about his work with Horner, and their interpretation was comprehensively panned.

This might be a good opportunity to link to my first ever publication, in which we test Padian and Horner's 'species recognition' hypothesis (something they never bothered doing) in ceratopsians and found no evidence for it. royalsocietypublishing.org/rspb/article...

I acknowledge that I made the cardinal sin of failing to include a scale bar in this photo, but the only objects I had to hand were my phone and my swimming trunks and I don't think it was possible or appropriate (respectively) to use either.
