I’m struggling to process how much of a distaster this would be on so many levels if he was sold this season. The ripple effect of the overall optics, demoralisation to the team, fanbase and Howe, the lack of good strikers on the market, how long PIF take to do deals. It would set us back years.

I'm not against the idea personally as a logo/crest that is the same height and width works the best across pretty much every touchpoint (Apple, for example).

I think the discourse in recent times when clubs pivot to a roundel has usually had a negative response. They realise that this should be a delicate evolution of the current crest rather than something quite unfamiliar.

It's all good man. I'm not insulted at all. This is all subjective and I honestly appreciate your seahorses comment. So much so that I'm keen to explore it further.

Yeah, in Italy it means 10. Although it's different everywhere else so for something so undefined, I was happy to include it as a reference to our iconic older shirts.

By the way, the recent update to NYCFC by an agency called Gretel is like the gold standard of football club updates for me. The case study is outstanding. 🙌

Hey thanks for the kind words! Someone else mentioned this about the seahorses as well – it's a great shout, so will have a look at updating it when I get some spare time again.

Whilst I don't align on the cruise ship company crest comment, this is an interesting thought so thank you. Thinking of maybe doing another stage of this where I work up some of the suggestions I'm getting, so will bear this in mind for sure 🤝

Me too. A lot of people do, and it was nice that it featured on last season's kit but we are moving forwards, not backwards.

Ok, but a few issues. Copyright infringement for one. It's not black and white (our most distinguishing feature). It's too much of a departure from where the crest is now, so any existing brand equity in the club will be lost. They have also said on record they won't pivot to a roundel.

The 24/25 season was historic for #NUFC. Howe turned a rough summer into our first major domestic 🏆 in 70 years—and UCL qualification.

But success brings expectation. With PSR easing & more games in 25/26, fans & Howe expect investment.

Yeah, agreed. Humans inherently don’t like change for many reasons –uncertainty is the tax we pay for possibility and all that. Hopefully they’ll find a solution not radically different that people will with like, be ok with or grow to love over time.

Well this is unfolding exactly as I thought it would about 6 months ago. These giant man babies are going to fuck each other up!

And that might be all that they do in the end. It’s not about making it look better per se, it’s about making it more functional.

I’m not saying these suggestions are the answer, it was more a fun lil exercise in simplification to make the crest more functional. 4 hours might I add. Not 2 years.

Thanks Philip, appreciate the kind words 🙏🏻. It’s a good suggestion – I suspect it might be a little too radical for much of the fanbase, but I’m probably going to have another run at this in a few weeks/months, so I’ll take a look at a bridge option then 👀

Yeah, not opposed to it. Perhaps not as the main feature (as it’ll need to be big and or basic to scale well like the Warriors one). Maybe in a few weeks when I have a bit of spare time I’ll work up some people’s suggestions.

Yeah that’s a fair comment/consideration. It’ll be very hard to satisfy everyone. I just tried to cover a few bases with the various options. I agree about the synonymous with the crest, not club comment.

Yeah, I had a few versions early on with the cross still in the flag but when you scale it down you can’t really see it. Opted against any reds as I saw a lot of anti-red/Mackem comments when the initial announcement announcement was made 😂

😂 Yeah, they’re both lovely in their own way. Don’t dislike them one bit.

Yeah, I like the confidence in having no type on there at all – in fact, anything that makes it cleaner is usually a go-er. However, putting my 'growing the club brand on a global stage' hat on, it would need some explanation of what it is to those new to the club altogether.
