โ€˜The actual story is people crossing a stretch of deadly sea, in unfit boats, who canโ€™t swim, whoโ€™ve never driven a boat before, with life jackets that donโ€™t pass musterโ€™

If we were any sort of civilised country weโ€™d be doing everything we could to save their lives.

Any idea of scrapping of tuition fees is for the birds while government continues an ongoing vendetta against migrants. Universities will struggle to survive the lost revenue from International Students. And thatโ€™s parking the fiscal catastrophe fewer Migrant workers pose.

A hotel in Southampton being used to accommodate people seeking asylum has been subjected to an arson attack.

Pure racist violence.

And government refuse to share any data on deaths at our border. So we canโ€™t even track which policies are driving deaths.

What put them in boats? Were they refused a visa? What family did they have here?

Until we answer these questions weโ€™ll never have proper asylum policies.

More lives lost including 1 woman & 2 children.

Government have just closed refugee family reunion (RFR) safe route. 56% of grants for RFR were children & 37% were women. So the number of women & children crossing, and dying, is going to soar.

The difference between having a Labour government and Tory government is barely discernible isnโ€™t Dan?

07.09.2025 09:16 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 12    ๐Ÿ” 2    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Government have plummeted so far down the anti migrant rabbit hole theyโ€™re picking up where the Tories left off, dusting off their projects and reimplementing them.

They know these sites harm. They know they cost a fortune. Theyโ€™re doing it anyway.

All these factors massively harm people & our communities. And they all come at an eye watering cost to us as taxpayers.

Which is why Labour always pledged to close them. Now theyโ€™re planning to open more.

07.09.2025 08:21 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 17    ๐Ÿ” 6    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Meaning government make more wrong decisions, adding to appeals backlog.

Crucially people are unable to learn English, learn about UK customs & practices, unable to volunteer, build social bridges & bonds, damaging everyoneโ€™s outcomes.

07.09.2025 08:21 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 16    ๐Ÿ” 4    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Unsurprisingly these awful places, in the middle of nowhere, without any asylum support infrastructure, lead to far higher mental health crisis, with suicidal ideation & self harm commonplace.

These sites also make it far more difficult for people to get legal adviceโ€ฆ

Itโ€™s being reported that Government are about to announce the furthering the use of Barracks to warehouse Refugees.

Ignoring the findings of the National Audit Office report that these are significantly more expensive than hotels. But thatโ€™s just the financial cost

Weโ€™re in another death spiral of click bait, reactionary policy announcements.

All utterly counter productive to having a calm dignified asylum system that works to reduce irregular migration and maximise good outcomes for the people going through it.

04.09.2025 07:00 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 22    ๐Ÿ” 5    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

-Changed the asylum support system so folk on ยฃ9.50 a week canโ€™t buy snowmobiles, time shares or childrenโ€™s toys
- Theyโ€™re considering using actual warehouses to warehouse people

All without any discussion or consultation, all without any evidence based understanding of impact

04.09.2025 07:00 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 18    ๐Ÿ” 4    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

In the last week government have announced:
-Theyโ€™re halving the โ€˜move on periodโ€™ for some Refugees, giving them just 28 days to find a home & a job bound to drive a homeless crisis
-Slashing refugee family reunion cancelling all applications, driving more into danger

04.09.2025 07:00 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 29    ๐Ÿ” 15    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

100% correct. Exactly this. They use people seeking asylum, who are fully subjugated by the state, to test authoritarian measures to deploy on everyone.

03.09.2025 11:20 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

We have one of the lowest asylum claim rates in Europe. And yet all they talk about is โ€˜pull factorsโ€™. There are no pull factors which is why we have ONE OF THE LOWEST claim rates in Europe.

Theyโ€™ll say โ€˜owt as long as itโ€™s tied to lowering migration & the media will lap it up.

03.09.2025 06:41 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 34    ๐Ÿ” 13    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 1

People who arrive are already given an ARC card while theyโ€™re in the asylum system, and a BRP. And thatโ€™s already chaos! BRPs with wrong names, getting lost, not being issued.

No oneโ€™s ever been able to properly explain how ID cards would help with irregular migration?!

I canโ€™t believe this nonsense is back again. A Trojan Horse policy that hoodwinks all of us into accepting deeply problematic ID cards that wonโ€™t remotely impact asylum numbers.

If government didnโ€™t already have a problem with Local Councilโ€™s taking court action to close hotels they certainly will when those Councilโ€™s have homeless refugees sleeping out through the winter. Likely being subjected to street attacks from racists.

These hostile policies donโ€™t just harm the person directly impacted. They harm all of us & our communities.

Let people work. Let them take care of themselves instead of warehousing them and building dependency then you donโ€™t have a Move On problem.

Cruelty costs all of us.
