It’s quite incredible that during the Obama years Van Jones was considered the acceptable edge of liberal thought in mainstream media. Now, he is basically seen as another mediocre opportunistic centrist who jokes about dead children in Gaza.

Well it looks like BLS showed the ADP numbers were junk and the American economy continues to grow. Interesting it is the public sector driving the growth, with state and local governments adding the jobs. States continue to be America’s quiet but most essential engine.

It is hard to know if the jobs report is indicative of a trend, but the gap between what was predicted and the reality is not reassuring, especially when the Fed is planning to keep interest rates steady. There is a specter haunting the USA, and that specter is stagflation.

I’m all for making Gaza the 51st state and bringing the Palestinian people into America’s federation of liberty. Doing so would give the people of Gaza the protection and support of US law and social programs, and would obligate the United States to defend the area the next time Israel invades.

During Trump’s first term, the refrain was that he is a dictator who wants to end democracy. The American people didn’t buy it. Now, there is talk of democracy ending through the emergence of an oligarchy, and I get the sense that people are feeling that and already experiencing some regret.

Trumpism marked the age of bully-politics. Yes, the United States always acted like a bully to other nations, but American leaders believed that it was necessary to hide their aggression under the language of freedom. With Trump, it is really a plunge into “might-makes-right” for the sake mightiest.

A lot of attention is going to Trump’s high unlikely invasion of Canada and Greenland. More realistic is his invasion of the regulatory agencies. The CFPB has been working overtime to put rules in place to protect everyday consumers. Meanwhile, Trump is planning to “delete” the agency. #Econsky

Machiavelli did not write The Prince to flatter the Medicis. He wrote it to demonstrate his political acumen so he could get back in power to undermine them. He thought they were corrupt and incompetent. Everything outside The Prince is about the superiority of Republican government.

He is leaving office historically unpopular, his rival party was elected with a trifecta, and the nation is now mired in multiple foreign policy fiascos. Domestically, he accomplished many good things, but as a whole, Biden’s first term looks a similar to W. Bush’s second.
