Hyce tapped his chin silently

He needed his head while she spoke, looking at the crystal before making eye contact with Sadako

“That seems to be somewhat working for you, right?”

Hyce's head tilted slightly, his hand moving from her to his pocket

“Really? You are really growing accustomed to this world, I'm glad you found your style of fighting.”

“Yeah, we have.”

He placed his hand on her back while they walked, smiling softly

“So, what spells did you learn again?”

“That could be the case, do you still want to attempt the dungeon or change quests?”

Hyce stretched while walking, cracking his neck and fingers

“I still want to get you some high level gear.”

“Hm, weird. I've never encountered people wanting the same mission after it was taken. I'll have to be wary now.“

“Damn it, we can set up in the dungeon. Find a room with one door and keep it barricaded?”

He slowly let her go, rubbing the back of his head

“What was all of that about anyway?”

The lever action gun disappeared from Hyce's hand as he grabbed Sadako and pulled up back, his trusty grenade launcher now being fired as the kill shot towards the others

“Sadako, your magic is great! Good job, thanks!”

Bang!

One shot rang out from Hyce's weapon as he shot the ground of the charging man, using that as a deterrent first

“I wouldn't keep going if I were you, it's not good for your health.”

He racked another shell, bringing the barrel back up for the kill shot if needed

Hyce's smile faded immediately as his gaze shifted to the ones traveling behind them, his hand twitched slightly

“bad feeling?”

Head tilting to the side slightly, already preparing his first weapon to summon

He placed a hand on her back, smiling back with his head nodding in return.

“Right!”

“Yeah, that's a smart move. I would've kept going but it's nice to have someone ground me and not have me pushing myself.”

“Oh the dungeon is probably about a six mile hike if I remember correctly. So it's not that far.”

He looked over at the map, pointing to the dungeons entrance

“We will be fine, I promise. The only thing to hurt me was a dragon-”

Hyce pointed to his missing eye and scar down that side of his face

“And I still killed it. So you don't have to worry so much.”

He followed her out the door

“I plan is simple, I can lay down cover fire if you want me to hang back. But we should search for the remains of a person if they did encounter a boss alone.”

“That is what I like about you, Sadako. You really care for me and it makes my heart race.”

His cheeks tinted pink before he pulled his hand away, looking down at the map

“The dungeon isn't that far from the kingdom.“

His thumb softly brushed against her cheek before letting out a soft sigh.

“I love that you care for me but I'm an S-Rank adventurer, remember? I've handled a lot of hard quests.“

Hyce looked back at the map

He gently squeezed her hand, placing his other one on her head

“We will be fine, maybe get a few cuts but we will be ok.”

That hand slid to cup her cheek

“Well the dungeon has various levels, the deeper we go the more dangerous the monsters become. I think a boss monster has appeared on the seventh layer.”

He stood beside her, hand resting on hers

“Do not worry, we have each other's back.”

“Maybe a few copper depending on the store and how much those people charge. Ten copper in a silver, ten silver in a gold. One gold is equal to 100 copper.”

“Its a retrieval mission, someone went missing in the dungeons so we have to go find them or what remains.”

He handed her the quest paper, his arm naturally slipping around her shoulder so they can read it

“Two hundred gold pieces.”

“Sadako, I got us a quest. It is B-rank but should be manageable.”
