Bc these programs give smaller farms access to bigger markets and support marginalized farmers, they "naturally" end up on the admin's chopping block. But this hurts everyone: supply chains will be ruined for YEARS, leading to a weakened ability to feed this country in general. Shortsighted.

USDA cancels $1B in local food purchasing for schools, food banks
States have been notified that they will not receive 2025 funding for schools to buy food from nearby farms.
Canceling funds for the LFS and LSPA doesn't just mean children go hungry--it screws over farmers, too. 80% of the buys are directly from farmers, and the programs have really built up trust in local agricultural supply chains. 1/2 www.politico.com/news/2025/03...
