I've to wait for a few hours in an unfamiliar town and have found the cosiest corner in the local library to settle in. Countless books to hand, computers to get some work done, lovely librarians that don't mind if you just hang out without having to buy anything. Libraries are truly a wonder

I'm halfway through the Wicked double bill and I'm so glad I'm watching For Good this way, with a bunch or pink and green dorks in love with these two girls, sobbing at the Oz Dust, ready to have our hearts broken in part 2

Thank you so so much to Children's Books Ireland for launching the reveal today πŸ©΅πŸ’› and to my agent Alice Williams for your support at every stage 🩷🩷 and the amazing team at @littleislandbooks.bsky.social for giving Muireann's story such a beautiful cover, it's honestly a pure dream πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ

I'm also so excited that the wonderful Natalia O'Hara has done some interior illustrations, which you might have already seen on the ARCs (the fish skeleton is my favourite thing ever omg).

I'm so grateful to everyone (esp Lauren O'Hara and Sarah McCoy) who worked on this artwork to give Muireann the space she deserves to take up. I don't think I've ever seen a book cover quite like it, I feel so so lucky.

It's hard not to feel like this kind of body isn't always welcome or even tolerated in spaces. It warms my heart to think that an honest depiction of fat bodies can be beautiful (your reactions all day have me all mushy).

When talking about the design of this cover, I couldn't stop thinking about how rarely I've seen artwork that depicts a body like mine.

It has been an unprecedented joy seeing the unbelievably talented Andrea bring Muireann to life in such a stunning way. Just look at how beautiful her soft chin, round arms, and big belly are.

I just adore Andrea's Calisi's signature lined art style, his use of colour is just incredible. I hope one day to have a print of his beautiful art join my collection on my walls.

Freddie has spent the morning scratching at the door, eating our hair, knocking stuff off the locker, swiping at our does, chewing the phone charger, and huffing in anger.

You try convincing an orange cat that it's not actually breakfast time because the clocks went back and see how far you get.
