(8/7) I completed the first edition of my presentation slides for the international symposium. It seems a little bit long. I need to improve the slides.

(8/6) Prayer for peace

(8/5) We opened the outreach activity for high school students. I was the head of the organization. To open this activity, we have had several month to prepare. I will concentrate my science from tomorrow.

(8/4) The result section of my presentation slide for the international symposium was almost completed. I discuss the decomposition of a broad vibrational absorption using two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy. This technique provides analytical solution for spectral decmposition.

(8/3) I tried to brush up my presentation slides, especially on the animation effect in the introduction section.

(8/2) I made the introduction and experimental detail of draft slides for an international symposium. In introduction, I will talk about unique property of molecular nano-clusters, benzene nano-clusters as a chemical system, and significance of IR spectroscopy for benzene nano-clusters.

(8/1) I started my carrier of an associate professor in Shizuoka University just 11 years ago. Recently, I am so blessed with excellent students in my laboratory. So, it is my pleasure to proceed our physical chemistry with my students. I would like to make our laboratory's dream come true.

(7/31) My previous student have studied IR spectroscopy of propargyl alcohol dimers. Yesterday I found a paper titled by the same spectroscopy and the same dimers. Surprisingly, the conclusion is completely different from ours.The reason is ascribed to the technique of dimer production.

(7/30) I attempted DFT calculation of an extraordinary charge-resonance dimer cation. According to the spin multiplicity, the dimer cation illustrates completely different structure. Really interesting.

(7/29) I tried the test calculation of the cation dimer made by pyrrole & protonated pyridine. In my idea, this would be a charge-resonance dimer. However, the dimer is formed by just cation-pi interaction. The natural charge analysis revealed that pyrrole has no positive charge...

(7/28) I prepared the examination of my course "quantum chemistry" for undergraduates. Although I made the exam last week, I found many mistakes in the exam....

(7/27) I made presentation slides for the international symposium on two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy. My talk will provide the structural analysis of benzene nano-clusters.

(7/26) We went shopping to Gotemba.

(7/25) A new research idea came to my mind. We have used pyrrole as a H-bond donor molecule. Instead of pyrrole, the protonated pyridine seems interesting. It has the NH group as a H-bond donor and 6 pi electrons on the aromatic plane. The difference is only the existence of a positive charge.

(7/24) I received the invitation mail for reviewing a paper. I accepted it because the title of this paper sounds very interesting. I hope to learn something different field.

(7/20-21) I have prepared the presentation slides for 2DCOS of benzene large clusters. One of the important argument in introduction is that the surface molecules of large clusters serve as a reaction field due to large curvature.

(7/19) We invited friends and had a home-party. We enjoyed itallian food and wine.

(7/18) I received the proof for checking from PCCP yesterday midnight. Today I checked the proof carefully and submitted it this evening.

(7/17) I heard the news that the big firework event in Shizuoka city weekend was cancelled. It was due to the rising river water level. Very sad...

(7/16) Toward 2DCOS symposium, I considered the motivation of studying a benzene large cluster and its vibrational spectroscopy. The key points are dispersion interaction, model of pi interaction, and impact structural change on Fermi resonance.

(7/15) Due to heavy rain this morning, a lot of students didn’t come to my lecture of quantum chemistry. So, I decided to change the contents of my lecture.

(7/14) I sent huge numbers of e-mails to high school teachers. This is a reminder mail for the invitation to outreach activity. The rest of the time today was spent preparing for class, such as making presentation movie and examination forms.

(7/12-13) I went to Shinshu to care my mother. We enjoyed Thai food restaurant in the downtown Ueda city.

(7/11) I have prepared an application form for a research fund and submitted it today. I applied to purchase the FT-IR spectrometer for the study on vibrational strong coupling in liquid phase. Good luck to us.

(7/10) Our paper on the solvent-dimer-mediate clusters as a microscopic model of bulk solution was accepted for publication in Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys. Congratulations to us.

(7/9) At the meeting of polariton chemistry in my laboratory, a student reported a very interesting result of the cavity transmission spectra of a gaseous molecule. I suggested we confirm the reproducibility of this result. This is a big step for us.

(7/8) The revised manuscript was submitted. The decision to undergo a major revision was beneficial and meaningful in raising the quality of our article. I want to receive the accept decision.

(7/7) I made a big progress on understanding the HSP concept. One of the key points is that the total solubility parameter is estimated by measuring the evaporation energy.
