A ladybug in center on a lamp base. The beetle is infected with a yellow fungus around its back end.
The Hesperomyces has begun to spread among the invasive ladybugs that moved in to weeks ago. Third year, the pattern has become predictable.

Itβs finally ladybird move in day here in NY. Approximately 150 have moved in for the winter so far, but only one showing signs of Hesperomyces. We typically see more and more infections over the next few weeks. #TeamLabouls #Laboulbeniales

On some unmowed grass rests a centered group of Chalciporus arranged to show the flesh, the cap, the stalk and the pores along with blue bruising of the pore surface in the center.
Nothing to see here, just posting a spicy photo on the Internet. πΉ Chalciporus piperatoides from New York.
I wonder if itβs fruiting so aggressively in this drought because itβs parasitizing a muscaroid thatβs struggling?

Itβs abject stupidity, it just drives the creation of workarounds.
I can push junk commits that look like work from a cron job for gitprime, AI users will similarly waste resources to check a task box with minimal effort while not actually achieving the productivity increase the metric wants.

Thereβs nothing free from companies like Google. Weβre just not charged at the point of use.
It would be in all our interests to not BandAid and Kleenex that brand of Internet search engine anymore.

AFAIK yeah they are, and like I am comfortable itβs not in the breeding group with any of the major invasives (unless Iβm way off and itβs closer to R.rugosa?).
But Iβm just nerdy enough to go get it DNA barcoded if I canβt establish a good enough ID. Gotta have an accurate catalog of the garden :)

Yeah, but theyβre not doing well for pink double roses unfortunately.
Getting suggestions from them around Rosa majalis but thereβs so many options in that group and each one Iβve keyed it out to in Erlansonβs key has been missing a notable feature, not that Iβve much experience keying roses.

Back to ad hominem.
This is a pretty boring thing. It canβt even troll effectively, just keeps repeating the same ineffectual crap.
Oh well, letβs go find another one; maybe itβll have something akin to working cognition.

Strike two.
Maybe it wants to make more stupid guesses showing us it canβt think for itself and just repeats platitudes, or maybe it will try that logos thingβ¦
Or maybe it will just give us a recipe for blueberry muffins.
Itβs about what things at its cognitive level are useful for.

Aww, one of those poor people the GOP victimized when they wrecked public education. Sad to see it canβt get two neurons to fire in a row unless itβs for ad hominem so I thought Iβd offer it some in kind.
Maybe it can try some logosβ¦ not sure it knows what that is. Itβs all sad little pathos.

A close up of Rose leaves in the center, over a mulch background.
A pink rose in the center with leaves of various weeds composing the background
A close up of the stem and stipules of a rose in the center, leaves infringing from the top and bottom.
Any #rose enthusiasts out there that can help me identify this #plant?
Found in New York at a remote cabin foundation where there were most likely German immigrants in the early to mid 19th century.
I have a cutting growing I can get more info from; but the old stems are pretty pruinose.

I think so too, but after Secret Origins she went from a Rappacciniβs Daughter trope to a less literal kind of poison.
I mainly see your plant posts, are you a comic reader too? Iβm digging newest Poison Ivy run, some of the covers sorta look more Toxicodendron. I really liked Feral Trees crossover.

We have a few different columbines in the garden. The straight native Aquilegia canadensis, a few dwarf party mix hybrids to suck up the leaf miners and add some color, and this one Bulgarian Columbine I domesticated from where it was found during an invasive weed cleanup event.

At the bottom, lavender plants are ringed with field stones. A strip of grass just above that, and the brown cut of bare soil separating it from the meadow above. The near tree line at the far end on the meadow yields to the whaleback across the valley. Above the far hill a pink and purple sky interrupted by a few locust branches.

A wild plum seedling emerges from a bed of straw.
Last summer I bought a peck of some wild plums, and didnβt eat them all before they went a bit moldy. So, I dug a bit of a trench along the edge of the strawberry patch, poured the plums along it, and covered them up. Lo and beholdβ¦ Iβve got a row of plum seedlings coming up. π± #nativeplants
