The only period this was remotely true was post-WWII. The US was the only industrial power standing that wasn't in ruin. For approx. 15 yrs the US reaped the economic benefits producing for the entire world when no one else could. That period was an anomaly, not normal. No one ladder pulled, grow up

"The Ukrainians have become the world’s experts in counter-drone warfare. After withstanding more than a year of American pressure to accede to Russia’s demands and essentially surrender, it’s not obvious Ukraine would still want to help us. feels telling about American foreign policy punditry that while many decry the aimlessness of Trump’s monstrously wrong Iran war there were far more outraged columns over the harm done to US power and influence and standing and interests and example when Biden rightly withdrew from Afghanistan.

The asymmetry of the value placed on human life is so striking. Israel has a goal to recover 40-year-old remains; to do so, it invades a sovereign country, and the lives of 26 Lebanese are an afterthought. Their names not even worth printing in the New York Times.
